Grown at 6000 meters, the Palai Muller Thurgau (a hybrid of Kerner and Riesling) is Pojer e Sandriís calling card wine and an undisputed benchmark of the Muller Thurgau varietal. Pale straw/yellow in color with greenish tones, the bouquet is intensely aromatic with hints of peach and citrusy notes of lemon. The palate echoes the bouquet with concentrated minerality and delicate complexity. Delicate and concentrated, at the same time, the Pojer e Sandri Muller Thurgau is a stunning example of what is possible with the Muller Thurgau grape.
The indigenous Nosiola is bright straw yellow in color, the bouquet exhibits intense aromas of ripe plums, golden apples, hazelnuts and almond blossoms. On the palate, the wine is alluringly aromatic with precise, focused, fruit flavors with bright acidity and a fresh, soft, almond finish.
From 40 year old vines situated on three, distinct parcels, the Pojer e Sandri Pinot Nero displays a bright, ruby, garnet color with a very persistent, sensual bouquet with hints of wild berries, raspberry and strawberry. On the palate the wine echoes the nose offering exciting berry qualities with generous acidity and mild tannins. The wine is fermented and briefly aged in steel with a very short, maturation in wood.
Produced on the Rodel and Pianezzi parcels from 100% Burgundian clones, Pojer e Sandriís Riserve Pinot Noir displays a bright, ruby color with notes of tinges of deep-colored eggplant. The bouquet is clean and complex with hints of raspberries, blackberries and ripe red cherries and plums, along with fragrant scents of tobacco. On the palate, it is elegant and harmoniously balanced. The wine exhibit good body and concentration. The finish is very complex showing a supple texture with spice notes. The Pojer e Sandri Pinot Riserva is fermentated in wood tanks, aged in French oak barrels for almost one year and matured in bottle for another year before release. My favorite Pinot Noir is all of Italy.
From the nearby Cembra Valley, the Besler Rosso is a complex blend of Zweigelt, Franconia, Negrara, Trentina, and Groppello, grown on deep volcanic soils. Ruby in color with purple reflections, the bouquet is very intense with hints of pepper and spice with notes of raspberry, strawberry and wild cherry. On the palate Besler Rosso is medium body with a complex range of fresh fruit flavors. After the fermentation in wood tanks, the wine is matured in used, French oak barrels for one year. After a short rest in stainless steel, the wine is bottled and released after at least 2 months of bottle aging.
